Factory Foglights for a 09XLT
Hey everybody,
I would like to install factory fog lights for my 09 XLT
Ford doesn't list a kit
Anyone done this before?
I have seen parts lists that show: the foglight, brackets, connector, headlight switch, center dash panel, fog light switch, bracket, but not any harness to connect it all together.
Thanks in advance for any help
Richard

My '07 has fog light switch incorporated into the main light switch. You pull it out while turning it clockwise in "parking light" and "headlights" modes.
Reason I'm mentioning this is that the factory wiring turns my fog lights off while on Hi-Beam . . . which I think is stupid. Also, while its nice to have the amber fog light icon illuminated when they're on . . . it's the only light on in my dash that is on while I'm driving around (Yah, I like to drive around with my fog lights on 'cause I think they're cool). Being the only indicator light on in my dash on while driving looks dumb and has a tendency to make my peripheral vision think that it's a warning light (like the amber "low-fuel"). The only thing I want to see in that area of the dash is the Hi-beam indicator and any other light that requires responsive action.
If I had a choice, I'd mount a separate illiminated switch somewhere powered when both Hi & Lo beams are on (it would be cool if I could find a rocker switch with the same fog light icon). I would then remove the bulb from the one in the dash.
P.S. Well, I guess I do have a choice (duh). Let me know what you end up doing and I might integrate all the good ideas on this thread to help make my own the way it should have been.
(BTW, you might want to attend one of the PNW CREW get-togethers sometime )

I believe all 06+ valences are pre-set up to accept foglamp housings. Just need to remove the block off plate, and bolt on the fog light housing and you're done. Wiring them up, I'd personally add an aux switch or go through the hassle of incorporating it into a factory headlight switch, which will be cool, and OEM.
But I could be wrong. I've never really had a real close look at an 06+ XL/XLT w/o fogs.
Yeah...I thought 09 year XLT's all got 'em standard.....?? Maybe I'm thinking 2010?

09 Fog lights
Thanks for all the help guys,
the 09's did come with the correct valence, but you couldn't get the fog lights unless you ordered the Sport or 4x4 model.
I'm ordering the parts tonight (thanks for the LMC pages )and will be checking out what it takes to install them like oem and maybe rewiring them to work with hi beams

OK, now that's just dumb! If it's foggy and you have your Lo beams on w/fog lights they say you're supposed to take you hand off the wheel to reach the button to turn them off (and by the time you see someone coming at you they're only 50 feet away)? Yah, that sounds safe (not).
I've found I'll start with Lo beams & fogs and on a nice long, clear, open road I go to Hi beams and I can't see so well up close. Worse yet, a car comes along and I switch my "Hi only" lights to Lo beam and my fogs come on then the opposing car gets pissed off & flashes me like I'm trying to blind them by adding a set of lights. That's why I think it would be better if the fogs would stay on for both Hi- and Lo so oncoming traffic could see I'm actually trying to help them . . . not be a *****.
