HEEELLLP! My windows won't go up!

My power windows will not go up. I have checked the fuses and they are good, even swapped them with others and still nothing. Any and all help is greatly appreciated!

All the way.

No noise at all.

I wouldn't think it would have affected anything, but I was just replacing all the bulbs on my truck and I had to tighten a connector that wasn't making contact for the blinker mod. Blinker mod now works again, but not the windows.

Your gunna have to take the door panels off. Check to make sure the switch is working. If it is then the motor is probably burnt out.

Dash fuse panel - Fuse 11, 20, 26
Underhood Distribution box - Fuse 12

Check the connectors at the PW switches. They get loose/dirty sometimes. A poor connection at the driver side switch can affect the windows and switches at both doors.

Check the fuses first then the relays. Its probably not in the doors or it would only be one side.Name: untitled.jpg

I had a switch go bad on the drivers side that affected both windows, I also had the one on passenger side also go out but that just affected the pass side. I had a couple switches laying around here somewhere, I think...

Well, here's the poop: I keep blowing the fuse under the hood. The switch is good and the motors are good, but I am getting no power at all to the switch. I did get the windows up by running a wire from the battery to the switch.

This is why I loathe power windows/locks - anything bad can happen and it leaves you in a bad situation usually - our rangers are small enough as is it isnt hard to reach over and roll the other window down/pull the door handle

Hope you can figure this out - lets also hope no sour weather comes your way!

Like I said, I got the windows up last night so there's a plus. Now to add more problems; Yesterday morning I noticed that my right low beam wasn't working so I bought a new set of bulbs, now neither the high or low beam is working. The fuse for the low beam under the hood is still good. This sucks!

Check the headlamp connector for signs of overheating or other damage. Hopefully, you are not running bulbs with higher wattage than the factory bulbs.

Check the ground for the headlamp. I assume that right side means passenger side. The ground for the PS headlamp is bolted to the PS inner fender near the washer reservoir and speed control servo.

The bulbs are the Silverstar 9007's, what ever the number is in the manual, I've been running them for 5 years or so. The connector looked good last night, I didn't notice anything. I will check the ground when I get off work.

Anymore insight to the window switches not getting any power?

If I understand it correctly, Fuse 12 (20 amp) in the Distribution Box is blowing and it is the power source for both switches. So, there could be a short to ground or there is some other reason why the current in the circuit is greater than 20A.

Where is it grounded?

By 'short to ground', I mean that the hot side of the circuit could be touching chassis ground. This could happen because of frayed insulation, a pinched wire, a connector that has separated or any other situation where the conductive part of a wire might incorrectly contact another wire or a metal part of the truck.

Thanks for all the help. I fixed a separate issue fixed today, but couldn't find anything so I ended up talking it to the shop. This electrical stuff was getting way above my head.

I forgot to let yall know what the problem was, there was a relay somewhere under the dash that went out and according to the dealership it was the wrong relay to begin with.
