Remote started Q

I was looking at this kit for a christmas present but then I saw that 01+ Rangers require a special bypass module for the anti-theft system. Is there anyway to not need that module is it required?

You can tape a key to the steering column somewhere as long as its close to the ignition. The computer will think you are using the key normally.

The 01+ keys have chips in them thats why they are so big. Its a passive anti-theft system that Ford uses. When you stick the key in the ignition, the computer reads the chip in the key. See that "theft" light that flashes when you have the truck off, yup that's it. Its called PATTS.

Yeah I know what it is. I'll just pony up and buy it. I think theres no way around it. But keyless entry, remote start and alarm for around 100 bucks is not bad at all in my book.

any remote start should work with your factory keyless... just have to program the remote
