I finally got my alarm installed over the weekend.. had a problem though with it. At first i thought the sensitivity was set too high or something, becuase it kept triggering for no reason at all.. the installer ended up putting some sort of diode in the line of the door wiring to stop some sort of auto trigger thing.. every 15 to 20 mins or so, the computer sends some sort of pulse thru the electrical system to do some sort of diagnostics test or something like that, anyway it kept setting the door trigger off.... apparently many F150s have this problem when alarms are installed, and that's how its always solved.. my ranger was the first they had to do it to so far...

It should happen in any newer model ranger because that is the way they are designed. They probably just havent done a Ranger yet. This also leads me to be concerned about the quality of your installer. Any good installer would know this before hand and do it initially as part of the install process.

when the site finally moves over...

It was installed at circuit city. the guy there said they've done only a couple of rangers really.. but not the newer body styles... he thinks mine was the first 2001+ they've done, besides one they did a year or so ago, which didnt give them any problem at all.

The diode has to do with the GEM module...I have the Clifford Arrow 5 and I too has to take it back for repair.

Does anyone know where the diode goes? I just installed a Viper 790XV alarm on mine and the same thing happens, I knew what the prob was, but I don't know where to put that diode. I already had to put 5 in to prevent things from happening that shouldn't be, but that is the last thing that needs to be done. In the green wire coming out of the gem that you tap into for the door, should the diode go above or below where you are tapped in? I know a bit about electronics but don't have any diagrams to reference.
