Icon14 GEM went again! UPDATE 12/06

I just replaced my GEM about a week ago and I get ready to leave today and no dash lights or 4wd again. It was a used one but now I have to get another one. And of course we get our first snow today so I can barely get around.
Could anything cause a GEM to go bad? Or did I just get a bad one?

UPDATE
Warmed up the truck today as I was cleaning off more snow and when I opened the door the 2nd time my dome light came on and my 4wd was working. Can I possibly have a water leak that needed to dry out, or could it have been the snow and cold? Not sure. I tried to see if I had a short somewhere by doing some rough driving over some railroads and potholes but nothing it kept on working. So I'm leaning towards it doesn't like the cold or moisture somewhere. But there was no dampness when I changed it out. Possibly fuse box could be damp or it just had enough time to dry before I changed it.
What does everyone think?

I know that sort of thing happens on Evo's from time to time. Water intrusion I mean.

That's what i'm leaning towards. Is there a way i can seal the windshield myself without having it ripped out?

Look for puddles before you tear anything out.

Nice snow storm coming my way Wed. so I'm going to try to seal up the windshield and hope for the best until I could check it out this weekend. I really need the 4wd to move this truck in the snow, I'd be dead without it. Already have a new GEM just in case. Never hurts to have a back-up.

I believe I found the culprit. Messing around with my fuses this morning and I pushed down on one of the fuses that control the GEM and my dome light went out. Pushed it up and it came back on. Now this isn't the fuse that controls the dome light. So i tried again and my glove box light went out too along with my windshield washer. I should be able to pop out the fuse box and push the connector back in farther to make better contact and I should be good to go. This happened before to my PCM fuse so I should be able to do this. I should have thought of this first. But hey, better late then never.
