Got new LED reverse lights
#29
Mine too! Except not on the truck yet. Been staring at them in my work truck center console for 3 days now. Thanks for the pic too.
There are far better more powerful alternatives to flipping on two tiny back up lights.
THIS! HAHAHAHA. I do not condone either tailgater beater idears. lol.

Long story short, I thought the linked and the black ones were ugly, so I ordered a shiny set off eBay. Ordered the 8th, supposed to be here by the 14th, never showed, started claim on the 19th, they re-sent and they arrive 5 days after the black ones I ordered showed up. lol. Been staring at the black ones for about 6 days in my work truck's center console and the silver ones for about 2 days.
The silver ones certainly look better in the lamp and are a 1/8" or so shorter than the earlier linked ones. BUT....the black ones everyone is posting about are brighter than the silver ones. Silver ones seem to be about 4500k and the black ones seem to be 5500k.
LOTS O PICS...
crazy how similar the packaging is....crazy Chinese!
Painted the base of the silver ones. Note the painted bulb holders in the lense.....I'm a little on the **** side...
Out with the old...
In with the new(s)
10ft away, passenger side is new LED. Driver side is "chrome dome" "xenon" incandescent... incandescent is nearly non-existent...
27w LED back ups on too...
The LED's are so bright, my camera toned them down considerably...
Overall, they do their job nicely. I see myself not flipping on my bright-bastard-switch as often. I plan to run the longer black ones that are linked earlier in the thread, but I intend to paint at least the black behind the projector to my trusty Rust Oleum hispanic chrome finish. May paint the base like I did the silver ones. Highly suggest these bulbs to lifted, lowered, stock trucks.

Thats a lot of light!
I've got some of that silver craft paint hanging around. I might take the bulbs out and paint them like yours.
since we're on the taillights. What are you guys using for brake lights? I'd like to convert everything to LED on my truck since they're surprisingly cheap. I just don't want to buy crappy made stuff.

HAHA right!? Kinda surprised anyone read it. lol.
Wait'll I finally get done fabbing these headache rack light brackets for the ones up there. They're long-range 27w LED's and judging by the tests, they're gonna be EPIC.
What the dude above said...L1224R LED's. They're OEM lights and aren't cheap. lol. They're made by Osram Sylvania and are found in some Mercury Mountaineer(all clear taillights), some Taurus X (all clear taillights), and 09-12 Mustang, and a version of the same LED, L1230R is found in some Malibus too.
I've seen 'em on eBay before for about $50 each new. Ford has 'em for about $80 each. I certainly didn't pay that back in like 2007, but they've been flawless and fail-less ever since. The most difficult part of the swap now is finding the dang pigtail that plugs into the LED....makes the mod quite expensive. I paid about that for two LED's and the pigtails...but that source is gone. You cut up some stock bulb holders and glue them to the L1224R's so they'll swap into your taillights. If $150 isn't in your budget, these aren't for you. Just go plug-in.
But let me tell you though.....these **** on plug-ins similar to the way HID projectors **** on halogen headlights.

I made that swap too. Got mine from E-Bay with no problem and they have performed flawlessly for over a year now. Love em! And just for the record, my rear window is very deeply tinted and my rear view is removed. I use the side mirrors with round convex add-ons and am used to that since I drove over-the-road for years.
