I'd rather just pay $50 and get some OEM hooks...
my dad got stuck this morning and he called me to see if I could help, but then he was asking do you have any recovery points, I told him no and he said well I'll get someone else cause he got his F250 stuck...he ended up getting a tractor...

I would rather see you get a front hitch if you actually plan on pulling people out.
For the rear, a hitch also. You can get the L11 rear hook, but they are incredible hard to find (worse than the L11 stainless front hooks). I know because i have one
If you use your front tow hooks, this is what happens:

get hook and drill a hole in the frame to mount them. My first truck was a '91 chevy ith tow hooks. When I finally blow here up I pulled the hooks before I sold it and I was able to find somewhere to put them on every truck I owned after that untill I got the ranger that came with it's own.
That video is funny as hell. No reason yank it that hard though.

He has the front crossmember but the holes aren't pre-drilled. They stopped that in 04, the Edge and Sport come with the crossmember, its the coil spring 2wd that don't.

Thats what happens when you try to recover someone while doing 20 MPH, the same thing would happen if you have a front hitch. If you watch the video you will see that the frame sheered not the tow hooks.
