Cheapest place to get O2 sensors?
My Ranger failed for emissions, and at 90,000 miles I figure I should probably change out my O2 sensors even though I'm not throwing a code. I went to Pep Boys and they worked out the cost to be $62 each for the two sensors before the catalytic converter and $49 each for the two sensors after the catalytic converter.
If I remember correctly, most guys don't change the sensors after the cat, so hopefully that can knock a nice hunk of green off of my bill... and still pass me through inspection.
So far at Rock Auto, it seems that they would cost me around $52 for the sensors in front of the catalytic converter, I'm just not sure which ones are the correct ones to get (393mm long or 271mm long).
Does anybody know which is the right size to get, if I have to change out the rear sensors, and who might have cheaper (yet reliable) oxygen sensors?
My wallet hurts already.

I thought the two were connected? Also, I thought it was a good idea to change out your o2 sensors around 100,000 miles, is that not correct?

Cheap o2 are 20 - 30 and 40 for bosch each.
Im not too well versed in this emisions BS as i dont need to pass.
I would assume you need plugs and wires over the o2 but i could be wrong.
Now doesn't for offer a 5yr/50k emissions warranty?

that sucks, that truck is making you broke. whole front end and now it wont pass emmissions. did you ever swamp that thing in deep water? i know someone said something about the newer trucks have some kind of charcoal cannister that gets ruined when it gets wet.

Where did you hear that, and do you have any idea where it would be located? I have gone through plenty of deep water crossings with this truck before... too bad you weren't with the forums back then.

if the canister was bad then it would throw a code, since there are no codes its something else.
they use some type of sniffer on the exhaust?
i replaced mine at 100k and it made no difference on how the truck ran, fuel mileage didnt change, nothing changed but the thickness of my wallet.

I am going to figure out what's up with my driver side pretensioner, I have the info I need to see if it is faulty or not. Once that is changed out, a can of seafom has been run through and plugs and wires changed out, I am going to try again.

Zach, Kevin is right. NJ is pretty messed up when it comes to inspections. They only told me that my driver side rear brake was hanging up, which... I also failed for. (this was before installing your old parking cable) They didn't tell me anything about why I failed for the emissions or the airbag.
Kevin, if I have to go far enough to take it to a private inspection I'm finding a place where I can pay for a sticker and call it done... if you know of any, let me know via PM.
