Wiring up cab clearance lights?

well i finally got into the ebay mode and bought a set of over the cab clearance lights that I want to install soon. so i had a few questions

1) should I install theses in parallel or series.... obviously series would be easier, but is that ok?? I only ask cause I figure they draw very little amperage

2)Can I just piggy back a relay off of my driving lights so that they come on whenever my other driving lights are on?

Just FYI, they are amber lights and I have a wedgewood blue truck. Thanks in advance!

You better be posting pics when you are done. As I'm planning the same mod...on my deep wedgewood blue truck. Series should be fine. Are they LED clearence lights?? What kind of lights are you going with?? I wouldn't think you'd have to relay them...I'd fuse them lower than what the parking lamps have.

oh man that is awesome! I will be sure to post them as soon as they are on. No, they aren't LEDs....regular incandescents. I got them off of ebay... from a store called like AMV lighting or something like that. They look like this...

Don't know why pics aren't working but click on my photobucket below and see them...

pics are working. 5 right? I'd probably go ahead and put them on their own circuit, their own relay. Tie the switch side of the relay into your parking/running lights. Should be fine. Wait for another opinion though....like Bob or something.

Basically you'd wire them like Aux lights or driving lights. Only difference will be the control circuit. This is one way you could wire them.

I forget where I seen them, but they were clearance lights with clear smoked lenses. Looked pretty cool over the stock amber.

clearance lights like pictured above, are more styled for the bigger trucks. don't run clearance lamps on a ranger UNLESS they are integrated into a cab over sunvisor.

well, I really like them... maybe the pics make them look bigger (the base is like 4"x2"), or maybe I am just different cause I know alot of people DONT like them, but i think they're cool!! but yeah, they are the ones styled after the newer fullsize chevys i think. They are going right on the roof, i think the visors look kinda doofy on a ranger

I would rather have the visor on my truck or the newer 3 led set up like on the newer GM heavy duty trucks. But I like the look of clearance lights.

Alright dudes.....we went through this about a year back......and it's a hate-it/love-it thing. The smoked/clear/tinted ones are from RECON, the same folks who make those really nice LED third brake lights.

I put the same clearence lights on my free-to-me '88 Mazda B2200. It looked sweeet.

I think it'll look sweet, do it

My buddy put some on back when he had his ram, didn't come with them stock and he had a little issue with moisture leaking in thru the roof from the holes drilled for the lights, so just make sure you have everything nice and sealed up
