I have a 2003 Ford Ranger. My turn signals, after a grinding sound when I turned the left signal on, stopped working, and my hazards do not work either. My cruise also doesn't work. Is there a community wiring harness, or a ground for everything in the steering wheel, that could cause all 3 to stop working?

 

Sounds like the clockspring. Not sure about the signals though. My signals still worked with a broken clockspring.

Any airbag codes?

 

Is the flasher relay still working? You will hear the clicking sound under the dash when you activate a turn signal/hazard lights.

 

There is no air bag code, and the turn signal lever clicks into place, but theres no clicking sound to indicate the signals trying to work.

 

Yup it sounds like a broken clock spring. I have heard of trucks throwing air bag codes and not throwing air bag codes when the clock spring starts to go bad. It is definitely not a fuse. The speed control, hazards maps and turn signals are on 3 different fuses so that would not be the problem.

 

What exactly is a clock spring? I've never heard of that

 

Multi-function switch, turn signal lever, isn't wired thru the clockspring, it doesn't need to turn with steering wheel.

Clockspring is a multi conductor wire the "looks" like a clocks spring coil, it is located under/behind the steering wheel, it is used to connect air bag(in steering wheel) and cruise control buttons to truck, because steering wheel has to turn this wire can coil and uncoil without breaking, well most of the time, they do break.
But thats not any part of your issue.

If you have replaced the multi-switch(most common problem) and its connector looks good then it could be a Flasher problem although I believe the '03 only used the one Flasher and if it is working with 4-way then it is working.

When you turn on the signal does the signal indicator on the dash light up?
If so but no flashing then one of the turn signal bulbs on that side is burned out

 

Not sure if you read over it in the OP Ron, but he stated his cruise control also doesn't work. That is the reason I thought clockspring.

 

oops.................my bad, yes cruise control signals do pass thru clockspring if the buttons are on the steering wheel.

 

I have a 1997 ranger that needs help. Replaced three turn signal modules already and problem keeps coming back. I have no turn signals working and no bright head light switch. If I pull the bright switch back toward me my bright's will work, but when the switch is pushed forward nothing. My four-way flasher are working though. When I put the new switch in everything works for a day then failure sets in.

 

How hard is a clockspring to replace? I'm looking to do it myself if its not too difficult

 

Not too difficult. Go on youtube and type clockspring there are some how-to videos. Not for a ranger but should give you an idea of the difficulty level.

 

I own a 03 Ranger when the flasher went out the dash bulbs came on, but would not "flash", though the 4 ways did work.
