2 bad temp sensors?

Alright so my temp sensor quite on me quite a while ago and I finally got around to replacing it.

The replacement temp sensor read 47 degrees on a 100 degree day. Well damn, that ones bad

So, I go to junkyard and get another one, replaced it today. -24 degrees and it's even hotter out

The question: Is it more likely that I've gotten 2 bad temp sensors in a row? Or, do I have something else wrong? Can the OHC be bad?

The 4 splices that were made have all been replaced in hopes that was the issue, nothing helped.

Side note: Before replacing the last splice on the ground wire I noticed the jiggling it made the temp change, the wire was loose so I cut and replaced the splice, but it still read the original temp of -24

Aaaaaaand go.............

Are all the wiring connections for the temp sensor good? If it is reading good when you jiggle the wires something may be loose somewhere. I would check the run of the wires from the plug right to the temp senso. Other than that, I would test another OHC in there and see what happens. I am thinking the plugs are bad or the guts of the OHC are just shot.

The compass works just fine, the temperature is the only thing in question.

Do you think you could find me another temp sensor (or two) for me to try.

All the wiring at the OHC looks good. The only wiring that is questionable is my butt connectors to the sensor

Im sure somebody has a temp sensor, or could make it to a yard.

You could put up a "want to buy"

It is strange though to get bad sensors one after the other.

Update: After giving up finding the wiring gremlin I decided to install my automatic windows, then I forgot to eat dinner. So I went for a drive

The entire night I was driving, about an hour total. The temp was "warming up.'

It gradually got to 7 degrees by the time I got to my apartment

Anyone have this happen?

Maybe if I leave it alone it will fix itself.

Pedro's idea of punching it didn't work lol

Let me try to make it to the yard and I will grab a whole setup for you. Have you taken the OHC down, leaving it plugged in and wiggle the plug to see if it could be that?

Yup, those connections are good. I had a friend solder those. No pinched wires either

Ok, In the meantime, cut the soldering your buddy did and reconnect everything with butt connectors. I will get you a new setup at cost

So.........apparently it fixed itself.

I just randomly wanted to check it. The temp according to my phone is 91 degrees. Sitting on a concrete parking lot my temp sensor says 102, seems right to me

I jumped the gun, it hasn't fixed itself, I'm no longer reading negative temps but now its showing warm. For instance it was 101 and while I was driving it was reading 107. Usually sitting on hot concrete will make it read hot, but then once I was driving it would go back to air temp.

What could this mean?

You may have the sensor too close to the engine. Try temporarily mounting it behind a headlight and see what it reads then
