Power Steeriing Whine
I replaced my power steering pump today and the remanufactured one was even louder than the one on my truck so I put the old one back in. I was thinking about getting some of the Lucas Oil Power Steering Stop Leak. I have been told that it will help with the whine. Lucas says to use the Stop Leak if your power steering whines really bad. I was just seeing if anyone has used it or anything else. I searched and no one really say that they used anything and it worked.

do not use the stop leak, it makes it really hard to turn in cold weather and starves the pump. use a synthetic fluid and thats as good as itll get. BTW did you bleed the new pump by driving slow and turning lock to lock about 10 times, shutting it off for 10 mins and repeating 3-4 times?

i replaced the whole pump unit with mine. the whine went away, and i used the lucas stuff. lately it has been doing the whine but only when im turning at low speeds, but i blame the bad weather for all this. id recommend putting that new one back on and ride if off. it says on the unit that its going to whine for awhile to break it in.
also, 90 percent lucas, rest regular power steering fluid. well, at least thats what i did and the whine and all went away. also that full turning 10+ times and all worked for me when i did it

I had the new one in for a while and turned full lock alot. Went down the road and did a test drive. Went to the local church parking lot and did figure 8's. It was a god aweful whine. Not something I would expect. I've changed pumps before and know the whine. This one was bad.
So Phil, you have used the Lucas stuff?
