Battery terminal questions

Just had to replace my battery because it's been dying for the last few months. First off, I had very bad corrosion on the negative terminal, so bad I had to use channel locks to get the bolt off because the 5/16 wrench wouldn't fit.
How hard is it to replace the battery terminals? Do I have to rePlace both at the same time?
Also, the new battery is a bit bigger, so it doesn't secure with the bolt, could I rig something up, or buy a different hold down kit?
Thanks

They should have given you the exact same battery size unless you asked for a bigger one. They do have aftermarket hold downs and I think most auto parts stores carry some. No, you don't have to replace both terminal ends at once. Before you replace the end, cut open the insulation at least a few inches to see how far the corrosion goes. For me, if it even gets close to an inch, I replace the entire cable.

I never liked those replacement terminals. They only last a short while before they corrode.
You're better off replacing the entire cable , which is not very difficult.

Cover them with Vaseline and they will never corrode again, or get an optima.

I also don't like the terminals you can put on. Better off to have some made up or buy new ones.

Get new cable(s) with the ends already on them. And definitely use an anti-corrosion paste.
