Is there anyway to adjust the sensitivity on the Viper 5701. i have it ziptied under the steering collum but not attaced to it. Is there a screw or anything to turn on it or would i need to get a external double guard shock sensor and if i did get on where would i mount it to get the greatest amount of sensitivity out of it...


Also ive got a glass break sensor im getting for it as well and where is the best place to mount the mic for it.


And if i were to get a secondary siren with backup battery should i mount that under the hood as well and are there any known problems with the secondary sirens malfuctioning and going off fo no reason? ( I found a post from a guy with an sti who this happend to and i didnt know if it was a common problem)

check out page 13 of the owners manual, according to it the shock sensor is adjustable by the remote, and it tells you how to do it. or the installer should do it for free if they are decent people. Its usually best to mount the glass sensor mic somewhere kind of in the middle of the vehicle, so it can detect the glass breakage evenly on all sides. As far as the backup siren goes, I had one in a truck once, and had no problems whatsoever with it, maybe a faulty unit or poor install? I dont know. here is a link to the owners manual.

btw..Be careful what you wish for when adjusting the sensitivity, more is not always better I have had one set up too high before, and it would go off when it rained hard, or almost no reason at all, I was always going outside to false alarms, and the neighbors dont appreciate it much either, I got lucky when they installed mine, they got it just right, you have to find a happy medium. good luck dude.

 

Thanks... I didnt even notice that part in the manual. But yeah i just want it to be a little more sensitive because you can hit my truck pretty hard and it doesent want away at all...

Also for the glass break would the center of the dash work to mount the mic. because there is really no place to mount it in the direct center of the truck unless i dangle it out of the dome light which that doesent really look that clean at all

 

yeah, center of the dash should be fine, what I would do is, before you mount it permanately is put it somewhere you want, and shut the doors and tap on the windows with your keys and see if it triggers the alarm, and try that on all windows and adjust the sensitivity to your liking, because they pick up on that metal against glass type sound, and then you should be good to go and mount it in that spot.
also an alternative spot might be somewhere in the center console?

 

Yeah I have mine just ziptied to a support bar underneath the dash and it just randomly goes off all the time. I need to adjust the sensitivity bad
