theres no hope for rebuilding a "hydrolocked" engine.
normaly there will be at least one bent rod and the rod hits the cylinder block causing a knock, once this happens the bottom half is scrap metal.
i personaly would not have wasted any time tearing the motor down. rather just remove it and scrap it.
last i knew you could get a complete, less manifolds, filled with oil long block from ford for under 2 grand.
water does not compress people remember that!

You don't think an explorer 5.0 would pass emissions? I guess they'd be like..."A 4.0 shouldn't have this kind of output...WTF?!" lol
I could always play the Levl II card and say it was a limited production run....duh!

Hey Maurice, if the one got a 302 and trans... And didnt like the idea of the auto 4x4 t-case...The one from the ranger would not work? If i ever did the 5.0 swap, i would defenitly NOT want Auto 4x4....Thus why i ask if the T-case from a ranger or ANY other truck or SUV would work on it without auto 4x4?

Thanks for all the good lucks!
I was thinking about putting it on the insurance company and paying the $500 deductable. After all the grief they put me through with my last truck, it's the least they can do. I'll have a claim rep come out and see what they say. It's worth a shot.
So if I did an Explorer 5.0 swap, I'd just need the motor and ecu/pcm(whatever)? Could I keep my same manual tranny and manual t-case? That's a must! I didn't go out of my way to get the dual shifters only to lose them two months later.
