I recently decided to get another Ranger. I picked up a 2001 2.5L XL. Pretty basic truck. I have ran across one problem that I'm not sure how to fix, and was unable to find anything in a search.

Basically the welds on the rear quarter panel are no longer attached. The area the welds are broken is circled in the pic below. (Not my bed...pulled pic from google images)

What should I do to fix it? Drill some holes and bolt it together? Get it re-welded? Anyone else having this problem? Any suggestions would be appreciated.

 

Maybe drill them out and use rivets?

 

This is what I would do.

It's not really a big deal to be honest. Stepsides you can actually remove the bedsides, and there isn't a whole lot holding it on. Rivets will do just fine for yours.
