drl's and reverse lights

drl's and reverse lights

sometimes my drls will just keep blinking on and off and its not a fuse issue or anything.. i turn on the headlights and they are fine...

problem #2 my back up lights dont work.. i replaces bulbs checked wiring.. what could that be?

anyone?

DRL......Canadian Problem...I don't think any Rangers here in the States have them. THANK GOD!!!!!!

1) The DRL module is near the DS headlight and looks something like a relay. The module itself may be faulty or there could be a problem with one of the inputs. I believe that your regular headlights will work fine without it - don't know if that is legal in Canada, though.

2) If you're sure about the fuse, bulbs and sockets, that only leaves the reverse light switch at the transmission and the wiring. A weak spot on 99~2003 Rangers is the large connector under the truck below the driver seat. It connects the interior harness to the rear subharness and it is susceptible to water damage and corrosion. Open it up by removing the center bolt, correct any problems inside and reassemble with dielectric grease on the pins.

You should also check and use dielectric grease on the taillight subharness connector at the end of the DS frame rail and the connector at the reverse light switch. While the connector to the reverse switch is unplugged, check the switch to be sure that there is continuity between the 2 switch pins when the shifter is in reverse.

where is the reverse switch on the tranny located?

Look on the sides of the transmission. I think it's the only plug connector on a 2000 manual trans.
