Help 2006 Ford Ranger Wont Start

Are you sure that you have a good key? Check the owner's manual to see what the behavior (indicator lights in the speedo dash) will be for good or bad keys. It's a real possibility that the chip could go bad or get reset.
I have a friend who was on a trip. Had started and stopped several times. After another stop to eat, the Explorer wouldn't start. I tried to trouble shoot over the phone and we determined it was NOT the battery, the relays, etc. The restaurant owner had a friend who was a Ford dealer mechanic. He traced it to a failed key and reprogrammed it for free (not saying you'll get it for free).

Automatics have an NSS(Neutral Safety Switch) that the solenoid power must pass thru to activate the starter motor, it only passes power when trans is in Park or Neutral.
If an auto then try shifting into Neutral to start.
NSS is near the transmission linkage, it also does the reverse lights.
Manuals have a Clutch Switch, same thing, starter will not acivate unless clutch pedal is in all the way.
This switch is on the Master Cylinder pushrod under the dash.
Power pathway
Battery---------key----------NSS/Clutch switch-------------starter solenoid
Starter tested OK???
There is a smaller terminal on the starter motor solenoid, that is the activation terminal, if you apply 12v there the solenoid will close and pass the battery power to the starter motor.
If the battery cable to the starter motor is bad then motor won't get enough amps to turn, often lights will dim if this is the case.
But that is not always a sign, some lights dim when key is in START position on purpose, their power is cut to give all battery power to the starter motor.

On the newer trucks pats is tied into everything if its a bad key it causes all sorts of trouble you can try jumping power to the starter if it spins over the starter is good but if the key is bad the PCM will cut fuel so it won't fire or if it does it won't run long. So that would be a good test to rule out starter.
