led's and the turn signal mod
#3
LED's are polarized...they only work one way. When you try to send power through the negative lead on an LED, nothing will happen. That's what you are doing with the turnsignal mod....sending power through the ground.
I'm trying to make this clear w/o me knowing the proper names and terminology... The incandescant bulbs work with the hot and ground going through either lead....it'll work no matter which wire is touched on + and which is touched on -....it'll work either way. LED's are much different...they only work one way. hot to +, ground to -. That's why the turnsignal mod wont work...because power is being given to the bulb from both sides depending on what position your headlight switch is in.

...of course, there's always the use of bipolar LEDs, which emit (usually, but not always, a different color) light when reverse-biased.
You can fabricate your own bipolar LED arrays -- every place that you have an LED in the array, add a second LED in parallel with the leads reversed; only one of the pair will light at any given time, but the effect is that the panel will light no matter which way you power it. Something like that would work in conjunction with the "turn signal mod".

I have the Turn signal Mod and everybulb on my truck except 9007, H10 are LED now. The corner flashes fine when the lights are on and runs just fine. The Corner just doest flash with the lights off thats it. Everything else runs Fine.
I'd Suggest running a 912 LED or SMD in your corner light though, it should fit and will give off alot better light. It has the same base its just a little bigger & brighter bulb

it sounds to me like blackonblackfx4 _is_ having the problem -- he states that the corners do not flash when the (parking) lights are off.
That is because they are reverse-biased at that time, and LEDs will not light up when they are reverse-biased. If you put a set of LEDs in parallel, but with reversed polarity, in those lamp positions, then they will flash whether the parking lights are on or off.

Yup.. I've got 194 leds from superbrightleds.com in the corners. When the headlights aren't on the leds blink in sync with the blinkers, when the headlights are on, they alternate with the blinkers. Is it not supposed to work like that?

When I tried this with LED's, it was massive failure because of the polars of the LED's.

LED's cody, LED's. lol. Not incandescants. lol.
This thread is about the turnsignal mod using LED's.
*kicks and giggles...here's my vid i did like 4 years ago..with incandescents...

Something wrong today! My hazzards dont work with the headlights on and truck running anymore! they work with lights off, or if the trucks off though, and the fuse is good.
Only thing I did was add the 3157's SMD's in the tails. other than that I have LED mirror lights, LED corners and front signals

Im 99% sure it say'd LED on the flasher, It has no hyper flash or anything, Just the hazards quit with the truck running and lights on, If the truck off and lights are on they work. Or truck on and lights off they work.
