Clunking in the front

my 03 ranger makes a clunking noise when I make sharp right turns, the noise comes from my drivers side, I'd assume it would be a cv joint but I don't even know if the truck has them. in your guy's opinion what do you think it is, it clunks mostly when making sharp right turns and once and a while I'll hear it driving but not as bad. Thanks

yup, 4.0 liter ,automatic but 4x4 is not engaged when this happens, also it just started to do do the same thing when driving straight and reversing but more so during the turning. It sounds fine when I shift through the gears.

Since your truck doesn't have unlocking hubs, the CV joints, axles, gears, and drive shaft all will turn all the time, even when you're not in 4WD. So the noise could come from any of those components, or from worn suspension parts. The first thing I'd check would be the CV joints, but don't rule out any the other moving parts.
