need help. RANGER DOWN! distributor dead

hey guys, so i was just puttin along yesterday, minding my own business, being tail geated by a mini van, no big deal right? well i put the truck in N (5 speed tans) and was rolling to a stop, when i saw that my Tac. went to a big fat 0. nada ziltch.
so got it towed all the way back home, about 1 mile, and went to work at it today, and replaced the starter (the old one had to go anyway) $100
oil change $35
coil pack $27
only to find out my distributor is not rotating my rotor, there fore making no spark to my plugs.
so here's the situation: buy new distributor assembly for another 100, or buy the Gear and pin kit, to see if something is still salvageable....?
im assuming i have to pull the engine out again? should come out in less then an hour this time, all the bolts have been Never Cease'd
asking from ME
motor is a 3.0 V6

You sure it's not rotating because the oil pump isnt rotating? Either way, yea get a new dizzy and try that first. Or pull it and see if that can still rotate.

Pull the Distributor and check the drive gear and pin first

the distributor wouldnt budge at first, so my father and i went to town on seeing if it was my timing chain, yeah... it wasnt, so after we put everything back together, the distributor came right out, and my gear on the bottom of the distibutor, is stripped like a hooker, thanks for the help guys!

If it's stripped, you now have metal shavings in the oil pan/screen.
