A little noob audio help?

Okay so try not to flame me to much with my noob question. First of all let me introduce myself. My name is Will, and im from Olathe Kansas (Anybody else in here near me?). I just bought a 97 Ford Ranger 2wd Single Cab with 78k miles :). Never actually owned a ranger before, but have owned a 88' Bronco II, and a 77' Bronco (Classic), so im basically a ford guy.

Im not much of an audio guy technically speaking, but i like to have a good sounding stereo system for my truck. I just bought an Alpine head unit (CDA-9884). Now im wanting to upgrade my speakers. I want to get some components, but hardly know anything about them other than they sound good. Anyways, for my truck, whats a good set of components to get, and to place them? I was gonna buy some Alpine or Infinity Kappa components for the doors, but i wasnt exactly sure what size, and if they would fit. My biggest concern for the components in the doors is; will the magnents hit the windows if i roll em' down? Also, what would be a good speaker to put in the rear? I know they have components for the rear, but how many people actually put the components there? Im not lookin to put in a sub yet, just a decent system that has good highs and mids i guess. What do you all recomend? If you have any questions or need some clarification let me know, i will check my thread often.

Glad to be apart of this forum as well!

I'm running pioneer 3-ways in the doors and two 12in. Infinity Kappa's in the rear. It all depends on what you listen to. I personally wish I would have gone with Infinity's or Alpines for the doors as well. Oh well, I'm happy with the Pioneers and they really nail the highs.

I like shopping at www.crutchfield.com Sometimes you can find some killer deals there, sometimes you dont and can get it cheaper elsewhere but they have an awesome setup that lets you key in what truck you have and what year and it will list what will fit in the front and rear though I believe the speakers are the same size. http://www.crutchfield.com/m_399/Car...ers.html?tp=12 As far as magnets go, you wont have any problem with the windows hitting them. There's plenty of room back there and as long as you stay with the size for your rig, you'll be good.

Good choice on the head unit by the way. I have an Alpine CDA-9887 in my car and I love it. Great radio.

oh and nice Bronco. I've wanted a Bronco like that for years lol

Yeah, well i wish i still had that truck. Bought it for 1500 and sold it to some guy in Tennessee for 3000. He wanted the danas. See i looked at crutchfield, and they said some fit, and some modification required.. When it says some modification required i didnt know if it will be difficult or what not.. Thats why i was wondering bought the magnets on them... thanks for the input..
I listen to some rap and alot of alternative... well if you call blue october alternative.. i like classic rock as well.. but i dont need alot of BASS, where my windows are gonna break.. ya know? I just want some good hitting speakers.

I have infinity kappas in my doors.. components in the front and coaxle in the rear. Since they are components you are gonna have to drill holes in the door panels to get them to fit in the ranger..

btw, make sure you get the 4ohm version (if they even make it). If not, your gonna have to run an external amp. But if you amp the speakers they sound great!

If you just use the factory replacement size, you should be fine.
