highs/low at same time

i searched as i think this has been covered but uncovered nothing. im looking to upgrade to HID's soon which means i loose my highs. but i already have my PIAAs tapped into my highs now. so what i want is to be able to turn on my highs (PIAAs) without turning off my HID's. thanx for the help and as little bashing as possible would be appreciated.

wire the auxiliaries independently. i did it with my hellas. just take it off of the high beam harness and put it on a constant switch or pull a wire from the battery.

This shouldn't be too hard. How are the HIDs wired and how do they effectively "switch beams"?

i dont have the HID's in yet . .or even purchased im looking at the fesability of it. i think they just plug into the harness and goes to the ballast from there. . . and i dont want to wire the PIAAs independently. that would add another switch when i could just use the (then useless) turn signal stalk.

im looking at getting these

Assuming the wiring colors are the same for the lighting on 2001 and 2004 rangers, this should be the easiest and safest way to do this. You need to wire a 30 amp relay off of the dashboard headlamp switch to the low beam wire off of the column mounted multifunction switch. Ground one side of the relay coil and connect the other side to the Red/Yellow wire off the dash switch to trigger the relay when the switch is turned to headlamps. Take the normally open contact on the relay and connect it to the Dark Blue/Orange wire on the dash switch, with a 20 amp fuse in between. Leave the normally closed contact unconnected and connect the common contact to the Red/Black wire off of the colmun mounted switch. Cut the Red/Black wire between the column switch and where you made the connection, to prevent back-feeding into the switch. This will turn on the headlamps whenever the dash switch is turned to headlamps, regardless of the position of the column switch. If you'd like a wiring diagram email me at richard.wright@budweiser.com and I'll do my best to get it to you. Hope this helps.
