Hooking up trailer wiring

I have 96 Ranger 4.0 with Draw Tite type hitch mounted under rear bumper. I am putting together a small 4x8 Harbor Freight trailer for a move across 4 states and the trailer wiring hookup is a 4way flat . The only hookup plug on the Ranger is on the bumper and it's a four way round.

I am electrically challenged so what am I missing here. What do I need to do to get the trailer lights hooke up.

Stop by Autozone and pick one of these up Round to flat adapter

Or you could cut the flat end off the adapter and cut the trailers connector (flat end) off and simply hard wire the adapter to the trailers wiring permanently.
