so its time for me to change my amsoil filter and i wanted to get my oil checked by a lab but i have no idea who does this or how much it costs... so to all you who have done this who should i use
You order the kit from Amsoil. https://www.amsoil.com/storefront/oai.aspx 1 kit is $25 (Postage paid). Comes with everything you need and you read the instructions on the back.
I don't think I would let AMSOIL do an analysis on THEIR oil. Seems like they would be biased. This place will send you a kit first, you collect the oil and send it back with $20. They will usually even e-mail the results to you the day they receive it if you supply your e-mail address. They are based in Indiana.
youre right nick, amsoil does not actually do the testing, they just sell the kits that goes to an independent lab. so you wont get biased results. gdoggy i see youre from the same area as the company youre pushing??? coincidence??

I guess that does seem a little fishy, but no, I had no idea where they were located until the kit arrived the day after I ordered it and I noticed the address.
I never found a set price for how much the test cost I saw a whole bunch of prices up to $250. So what is the price.
From Bob, $21 per kit (1 test), postage paid (To send it to them).

If you’re running synthetic motor oil or any motor oil really, the test will show you if you should really change it at the interval you are changing it at or if it could last longer/needs to be replaced sooner (Lets you know how good your oil is doing at protecting your engine). Also, it will tell you what metals are found in the oil which will let you know what's going on with your engine and help diagnose problems or show possible problems that are brewing.
