Ya so drivin to work i noticed a slight softness in the pedal, Luckily just as i was pulling in to work ~ 25 miles later NO Brakes. NO Fluid. Right Rear tire and surrounding area with Fluid Everywhere!! Coming from inside of brake drum. Help!!

Luckily theres a firestone and goodyear shop right around the corner. And imma have MAL bring me a bottle of fluid so i can get there lol

Any Ideas??

 

Sounds like you blew a seal on the slave cylinder. Replace the slave and get back to it.

 

Thats what i was thinking. Sucks Imma have to pay someone to put in a $15 dollar part but im stuck at work ugh

 

Probably bad wheel cylinder on that side if it's all covered in brake fluid

 

Hopefully it didn't get all over the drum and shoes. If it did, you will have to replace the shoes.

 

You could probably get away with pressure washing them really well, but I'm sure the shop will want to replace them. Might as well check the other side too.

 

yea im just gonna take it in. that sucks they were fairly new two. And the worst part is I have my 8.8 sitting at home. figures

 

Wheel cylinders are an easy fix if you have the right tools. But the brake pads are a biotch to put in.

 

Shoes are easy...just springs.

 

I've done it before myself and yes its very easy.. however im about 11 miles from home and 1/4 mile from a place that can fix it. With about 1/2" of fluid left in resevoir im not takin the chance on braking for 11 miles with the end of one line bleeding out like a stuck pig. the price to pay to fix it now isnt worth the price of an accident and possibly hurting some one ya know. IM just gonna top off the resevoir and drive very carefully to the place. luckily ive only got 1 redlight and its I get to turn right. theres always the Ebrake for back up lol

And youre stick too so you can engine brake which is good

 

well 230 bucks later. New shoes on both sides and New wheel Cylinders. ugh!!! only 100 for install and 100 for parts. They dont sell single sides so it would have been the same price for me to buy the parts and do the work my self. it was exactly what we all thought blown seal. and Shoes were completely soaked in brake fluid so def not salvagable.....worst part is i just paid 230 bucks for an axel that im only gonna have a few more weeks!!!

For sale 7.5 with Brand SPankin new shoes/wheel cylinders/springs!! lol in a few weeks

 

another easy/temporary fix would have been to cut/clamp off the back brakes by sealing/clamping the soft rubber hose that goes from the frame down to the back axle. that would have sealed your line and left you with working from brakes! i have to do that on the side of a mountain when i blew a line a few months back

 

^ Good for a short fix yes, good idea. But mine is a DD and it needed to be completely fixed. All done now lol
