palm pilot as OBDII Guage

anybody use this setup? is it worth it? i figure its the cheapest way to get one, and i do have an old Palm IIIxe sitting around, so i figured id get some opinions before i ordered the cable and software

banks has a set up for the diesels. but i dont see the point in a ranger just get a proven xcal 3

there really isnt a point i just think it'd be cool, and i could do it for almost free. i wasnt even planning to tune, just use it as a guage, like digital temp, tach, mileage, etc. if i could tune, even only slightly, that'd be even better, but again, i'm in high school on an extremely limited budget, cheap=good
