Shift Light

Hey guys i was wondering if anyone new how to wire a shift light to the stock Tach on my truck.

The RPM signal from the PCM to the factory tachometer is on the Tan/Yellow wire. It runs from the PCM through the engine harness to the DS firewall, then through to the cluster.

If your accessory shift light can use the same signal as an accessory tach, then the Tan/Yellow should work.

yes it is the tan/yellow i have on in my truck. just as a heads up it is going to be a little off . but mine has been in there for 2 years now

What do you mean it will be alittle off. Will it be early or late or what?

if its like a shift light from autometer you can set what RPM you want it to come on at via a chip you put in it

it is going to be a little late.i have a 5k chip in mine and it dont turn on till like 5200.but it still dose the job.

normally the auto meter lights are highly accorate and most the time stock tachs are never perfect

my trucks tach never goes above 3500.....

Here is another idea just in case you are interested.

I was thinking about this and there are RPM activated switches, just incase you don't want to to put a big tach on with shift light or a big shift light. You could simply get an RPM switch and wire it to a regular LED and mount it in a not so odvious place.
