AC, Fan and all positions work but no heat

Hi Guys

My HVAC system seems to have no heat, it always blows cold air no matter what the temperature setting. I can confirm that the blend door closes since I removed the glove box and looked at the air driven plunger, I can see it move opening and closing the blend door. I can also go to the hoses coming to the heater core and feel them, they seem warm but no warm air ever make it to the cabin. In fact the cabin air coming out of the ducts is always cold like the AC is on all the time. AC works fine. Ohh 2009 4 Door 4x4 XLT supercab.

Any ideas?

The door behind the globe box that you can see is for MAX AC, your blend door or the actuator is broken.

But wouldn't the AC then only work in max AC mode? Mine works without it being in max AC. I know where this is, I can test it to see if its working.

Is this where I should start looking?

The AC works in every position except off, floor only, and dash vent only.

The door that is vacuum operated in the pass side foot well is the recirc door for the MAX AC setting.

The blend door lives inside the heat3er box and you cannot see it. If you remove the glove box you can see the actuator.

This about the only picture I found to help show what your looking at, the dash has been pulled and is resting on the seats.

And I found this thread to tell you how to trouble shoot the vacuum connections. I'll check them out.

so i did some serious investigation yesterday to try and find out why the blend door isn't working. I check all the vacuum hoses from the control panel to the heater and through the firewall to the globe thing. Seems they are all connected and I can't find any breaks. So I tried feeling the actuator to see if it moves, I got nothing, I was able to get a view between the actuator and the top of the heater assembly and I watched and rotated the heat ****, the thing never moved. So I suspect the thing is burned out or the gear is broken.
Do I have to take it out to see the part number or how do I know which one to order from Rock Auto?

Its not vacuum operated.

Double check all fuses first. Make sure its plugged in at the actuator and the center **** before you buy one.

The wiring is short so check it for continuity.

Get the one that says MANUAL.

Its really a PITA to change it, you can start with a normal ratchet then switch to a ratcheting box end. Also have a magnet that is on a string or flexible wand. If you drop a screw and it falls behind it may live there until you pull the dash.

I ordered a Dorman 604202 (604-202) from Rock Auto on Tuesday morning. It came today. First thing I did was remove the power from the old actuator and connect it to the new one and turn the ignition on to see if it moves the shaft and it did! Awesome! I started removing the old actuator around 3:20 i found it odd that in this truck that I bought new from the dealer there was only 3 screws holding the actuator in place, any way I connected the power to the new actuator fired up the truck and i got heat! Was done by 4:45 or so. Not to bad but I did drop the ratchet behind the damn thing twice, had to fish it out with the flexible magnet. Thanks for that tip!

Its a good time for sure.

This maybe the first time I have heard of a bad actuator and not the blend door breaking.

This summer I had the same thing, one cool day I go to use heat and wtf. The nightmare of reading of blend door breaks didnt come true for me though. Turned out it was a burned out actuator too. I forget where I found it, but I found a site where it tells you how to trouble shoot the variable resistance switch that controls the actuator.
You sure changed the actuator faster than me. Lets just say once that 3rd screw came out the little SOB didnt get put back in. Just did not have a shallow enough ratchet or the right ratchet wrench to squeeze in there and get it out.
