Head lights flashing

Hello all - My head lights are flashing on and off on a random bases over the hour or so. I checked the connections them seem to be fine. It is dry under the hood. It has been raining off and on all day. Any suggesting?

Thanks

Ken

Do you have DLR(day light running lights)?
Could be E-Brake switch is causing it, this switch turns on the DLR when E-Brake is released.

And is the main light switch in the ON position when they flash or the AUTO position?

The head light power runs from main light switch to Multi-function switch(turn signal stalk), for "flash to pass" function and then to the "Low Current Board" in the Smart Junction Box(SJB).
"Low Current Board" feeds fuses 1 and 3 in SJB one for each head light.

Heads lights are grounded separately so probably not a loose ground wire

Hi Ron, thanks for your reply, I do have DLR, the head lights randomly flash when I turn the truck off. The main light switch is turned off, when turned on the lights do not flash.

Rangers didn't come with factory perimeter alarms, they do have PATS but it is "passive" so no connection to lights or horn, it only disables starter motor and fuel supply if activated.

Ford Dealers did add perimeter alarms, these were Ford approved, but not factory installed as far as I know.
And these do hook up to the lights, i.e. head lights flash when you arm and disarm.

Do you think there is an alarm installed?

Only other thing would be the DRL(sorry, DLR were wrong initials) circuit, but it shouldn't have power to activate the lights when key is off.
If you don't already do this then set the emergency brake, this disables DRL circuit.
And see if lights still flash.

Seems it is not all that unusual on Ford Trucks, read here: http://www.f150forum.com/f38/headlig...uck-off-94470/
