Post Pictures of your trailer brake controllers!
Hey guys, I'm getting a toyhauler trailer that's gonna weigh about 4k pounds, loaded up. My truck is rated for 5300-5600, whatever it is.
I need to put on a trailer brake controller, and a 7 pin round plug
Does anyone here have pictures of where they mounted their controllers, and more importantly where they mounted their plug?
I'm trying to find a bracket that will allow me to put the plug up in the underbody, above the bottom of the hitch so it doesnt get ripped off when I go wheelin'...

Yes I installed it myself.
I bought a wiring kit similar to this one. Except the one I bought came with 20' of wiring for the brake controller line, charge line etc. I used auto reset circuit breakers for those lines, and tapped into the brake switch for the controller. It isn't too difficult if you can do a little bit of wiring yourself.
I picked the wiring kit up at an RV store so I could actually check the parts out first.
Also, I would strongly consider a larger transmission cooler and maybe a scan gauge to monitor the temperature. The auto in my sport trac ran on the warm side with the factory cooler even without towing, and a bigger cooler dropped the temp over 20 degrees. I was thankful to have it when I was pulling a 6x14 enclosed trailer from Oregon to Kentucky over the mountains!
