Exhaust Input

Exhaust Input
Now before I start getting flamed I know theres a million posts and everyone has there favorite but Im just trying to figure out what will best work for what I want.
I know I want a dual exhaust and also stainless steel (figure why not spend a bit more and have it last me). And then lastly I'd like to exit at the back of the truck below the bumper (hopefully soon to be rollpan lol).
So my question is who should I go with be it a all around kit with everything i'd need? or piece it getting the muffler and the tips and then having pipes done by a shop?
I havn't called around any shops in the area yet because I figured might as well figure what I want first.
Reason I'm posting now is getting etest monday comming up and Im pretty sure im not going to pass, I took off my muffler shield yesterday and got some holes that aren't even worth trying to patch. So if I dont pass monday ill have to get something by the end of the month so I can renew my plate sticker.
So the input you guys could provide me with would be much appreciated. Also im right across from detroit so if theres maybe a good shop in the michigan area I could always head across and get it installed.
Thanks for the input

depends on the sound your looking for.. the deep low rumble or the high pitched ricer scream or fart can.. im assuming its the low rumble...
so i'd do a single into a muffler (flowmasters are nice) single out, then into a Y pipe and route the exhaust where you want it to come out the back.
i dont know too much on emissions and air care and all that crap because where i live i dont need to pass emission and air care. also search on youtube, i know i've found a bunch of rangers when nice sounding exhausts on youtube. its nice to listen to the sound first that you want then build it (or get a shop to do it) that way.

When I out a 5.0 in my '88 Ranger I bought the DynoMax Mufflers and left the truck at the local muffler shop with orders to keep everything high and tight, add exhaust shields and have both pipes exit on the passenger side of the vehicle next to each other. ending up with heavy gauge aluminized pipes, was sure that I liked it but it did last a long time.
When I finally get around to have the v-8 in the '03 I am not sure but I believe the local shop will called on again but this time I think S/S all the way; different people but the boss is the same.

So I guess that means a custom exhaust is the way to go.

Also I dunno if its because I dont post here alot but I can't make a poll for everyones brand choice to try and help me decide.

Search for exhaust clips on youtube, and pick which one you like best. Don't go too big diameter on the exhaust otherwise you'll lose backpressure and low end torque.
The sound is subjective. I have heard some rangers with dual exhaust that sound almost like a loud Honda, super annoying. But obviously some people like that, for whatever reason.

You dont think any of these kits are going to stay high enough? To me it would be because theres other things lower then your exhaust on the truck, so I dont think hitting it would be an issue. Maybe Im wrong I dunno its why im looking for all the input I could get.

Do you have an exhaust installer near you, at least stop by and inquire what it would cost to have an exhaust mounted as you want it and with what-ever pipe material you want; S/S, Aluminized pipe.
You might be surprised that the custom cost isn't too much more than a "System" and maybe less.
You might need to supply the muffler you like the sound of.

I attempted the etest and couldnt even run it there isnt enough making it out my pipe at the tire lol
So I went around and shopped a bit got a few prices and looked at couple mufflers.
Looked at a flowmaster and there basically baffeled but othe rthen that straight through.
And the magnaflows are glasspacked and seem like they'd be bit quieter jsut by construction and way there built.
I was recommened by one place to go flowmaster and other said that they are a bit louder then magnaflow.
Im going to be calling a place tmr which is a custom shop that would bend the pipes and everything and see if I can get a price from them.
