PopLock question

on an 08 ranger, the instuctions say look for a pink/black and a pink/orange to splice into.

we've narrowed it down to the bottom plug in the passenger side kicker panel. but none of those are the above colours.

we are seeing alot of purple/something. can someone clear up this colour problem before it starts raining?

I think I found it...
Connect the brown wire to the gray/purple wire.
Connect the green wire to the white/purple wire.

Hard to tell in the pic, but one of those is white with a purple stripe, the other is gray with a purple stripe.

ok, we have contact, we're gonna crimp the wires in the tailgate. does anything need to be done to the ones in the fuse box?

All I did was pinch on those blue lock connectors, crimp the female spades onto the end of the tailgate lock wires and then connect the two together. As long as you attach the brown to the gray/purple and the green to the white/purple you should be fine. If the tailgate is working opposite to your doors just reverse them. Make sure your wires are up out of the way so they don't get pinched and you're done!

yea, my stepdad and i finished it in about 3 hours. we had some issues trying to snake it around the frame and feed it through the grommet in the firewall. from the back of the fuel tank to the front, i was unable to use a zip tie. then we were about 2-3 inches too short (story of my life, think i'd be used to it...). the female connectors came off the wires as we pulled them through the grommet so we had to extend the lines. they were back wards, so the green one is on the purple/grey and the brown one is on the purple/white.

i'm sure i could have pulled some slack outta the tailgate, but i just wanted to get the damn thing done. i'm confident it's all done without problems but there is still the pesimist side of me that is waiting for it to short out and screw me over at the moment i need it most.

anyways, thanks adam. the info and pic was helpful and my stepdad was shocked that i was able to get info about it that quickly.

those instructions had the wrong colours and it was confusing. i also found that if i gave the blue connectors a quick twist, it help in getting a better connection through the wires.

i must say also, it was nice getting under the truck and into the engine bay. i was able to see exactly where things were. such as the fuel filter location, what the steering shaft, clutch/slave cylinder looked like, how wires were run, etc....

Good to hear you got it working. Which hole in the firewall did you come through? I just put mine through one of the drain plugs in the passenger side floor, and it seems to work well. I can't even remember how I routed mine up to the front without going out to look. I know I spend alot of time on it to make sure it was all hidden and up out of the way, and I only had like 2" to spare once I got it up to the cab.

And no problem, you had perfect timing if you were about 2 minutes later I was about to go outside but I read your post. Just returning the favour, thanks again for picking up those step bars for me!

np. we stayed along the driver side frame rail and cut the rubber gromet next to the brake booster then came across under the carpet. the kit should give an exta bit of wire just in case.
