Stupid Roommate

I found this on Blue Oval News. Please read if you have a 2004 Ranger regular cab!

Hmm. It's kinda funny how my girlfriend teases my love for Ford. She drives a honda accord, and basically her whole family drives ford trucks. My 03 Ranger has zero recalls, and her Honda has had two or three recalls. One for brakes, and another for automatic transmission computer program update.

I bet they "fix it". No way they'd recall all Rangers they'd already sold. I bet there will be a modification to the body and/or fuel system. I'm even willing to bet that they already have a fix ready to go or in the works. If they're anything like us software people, we don't even like to admit we have a bug/defect until we have a fix for it..

They will try to patch it up, but this is not a correct fix and will depreciate the vehicle as well. If there is a problem with the frame, the only way to 100% fix it is to put a new frame under the truck and they aren't going to do that. I am giving mine back, whether they like it or not. It's a brand new truck, and they want to patch up something potentially dangerous and drop the resale value of my truck? I don't think so! I talked with a guy from the corporate HQ or some fancy place and he told me they would take the truck back and return payments, tax, license and registration fees paid on the truck. I'm thinking if I can get rid of this trouble-heep I will go for a Hemi Ram reg cab...

Well I haven't even made my first payment yet on mine. So they can have it back as long as I can get another ranger!

*Edit/Update*
I called the 1-800-325-5621 number and they refered me to this other number: 1-800-392-3673 When I called that number the person told me there is no recall going on and that there is nothing else he could do for me. I registered my VIN # on "My Ford" website and it also says there are no recalls.

Darn it Monday is cutting in close to my departure back to Gainesville on Tuesday I want to get it taken care of b4 I leave since I wont be back till the 20th or so in time for the Daytona meet. I hope they will check it on monday then. I told the guy that the official info wasn't coming out until the 12th he said it didn't matter that if it involved my truck it would be on their systems now and that it wasn't there. I couldn't even hear the dumba$$ that well cuz his phone was fuked up! They make me mad!!!

OK, I got some info from my "good" local dealer. He told me it only affects 2004 Reg. Cab rangers built from June 2-25 of 2004 in the Twin Cities plant... My truck is now NOT affected so I get to keep it a while..

It is just a cross member that was made bad, about a 10 min fix. The potential for it to be a problem is very small, they would just rather be safe than sorry.

agreed. i test drove one, even tho i knew i didnt have the money for it.. and it was such a smooth shift and so powerfull. i loved it. but i still love my 04 ranger.. dont know if mine is effected or not, i bought it in mid march and the only problem ive had with it is a valve in the tranny, but i think it was due to the way i drive.. it's an automatic
