Seatbelt chime

I am a new member here and I need some help. The seat belt, door, key chime on our 95 Ranger stays on for extended periods of time. Our Ranger is std cab 2wd with 4cyl. ,5 spd . I am not sure what function is keeping it on but it is annoying. Is there a way to disable just the chime without interefering with the safety functions? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Seat Belt Fastened

I guess I assumed it would be understood I had the seatbelts fastened. So with that in mind do you have any suggestions on the possible cause. The door ajar switch ay well be the case.

ummm....Hey guys thats not what he asked, he didn't ask if it was a good idea to wear your seat belt or not, he asked how to turn the chime off, or maybe your guys need to brush up your reading skills.

Your owners manual tells you how to trun it off. I don't know about the older trucks but mine was an insane method which was something turn the key to run, buckle and un buckle the seat belt 3 times, beep the horn, then buckle and unbuckle the seat belt 3 more time, or something like that anyway, it was nuts but thats what the owners manual said.

Its your choice to wear it or not.

Try disconnecting the connector under the seat.
That worked on my old 83 and it works on my 2000.

Before you guys start back with the "wear your seatbelt rant"...I do. But I leave my key in the ignition when I am hunting and hate that chime (or buzzer in the case of my old 83).

If you do that in a new truck your air bag wont work !

Thanks for your input.
I checked on the Ranger Station website and am pretty sure it is the door chime switch.

Doorchime switch was the culprit

It was the doorchime switch and the service writer at my local Ford dealer gave me an easy five minute fix for it. Thanks guys for responding to my post.

I have my seatbelt unpluged as well.

if your door ajar switch is going off try a lil silicone spray on the latch

I think you just spray some wd-40 in the lock mechanism where it meets the striker. Dont hold me to that, but I think thats what I heard..
