Need belt to bypass AC compressor

I've noticed a squeak in my AC compressor when I start it up in the morning. It seems to go away once everything is warmed up, but it's getting louder and starting to worry me.

I'm wondering if there is a shorter belt I can buy to bypass the AC compressor. It's cooled off up here, so I won't be needing it for now. I don't want to take the compressor off, I'll get it fixed once I can spare the money.

Anyone know what length belt I'll need? Rock Auto has one listed for my truck without a/c showing it being 82 inches. Does that sound right?

that squeal is your serpentine belt not the AC compressor

if your compressor`s bearings were wearing out , the squeal would occur all the time while the engine is running

but it is a good idea to bypass the compressor during the cold winter months

I always heard that you should use the A/C even in the winter to keep the seals from drying out. Also, the A/C should operate when the defroster is turned on with the heater on.

Good point about the squeal cheese_man. When I went to the store this morning I didn't hear it at all.

I put a Gatorback belt on about two years ago, so yeah it could be getting time to replace that. I'll give that a shot first.

Thanks
