Replacing Antenna

My antenna wire was cut a while ago right before the plug into my radio. I just had a quick fix on it for the longest time, but I finally bought a replacement. Now I can't find how to get this stock antenna off. It's the kind that does have any screws on the outside, like this:

Any help on how to get it off? I've read things about taking the wheel well guard off, the glove box, the whole dash.

the antenna just unscrews off. the base has two screws in it. you have to pop the black cover off to get to them. not sure how to get the wire between the dash and base though.

Alright, I'll go try that. Didn't want to try and pry anything off that I wasn't sure about. For the wire I'm going to tie a long piece of string to the end near the head-unit before I pull it through. Then when the string comes out of the antenna whole I'm going to tie the new antenna wire end to it and pull the string back through.

sounds like a good plan as long as there aren't any really tight places it needs to go through. i shaved mine, and tossed the replacement in the hole where the passenger air bag would be.

Well, it seems it wasn't so great of a plan. Ive got a string routed where the old antenna line was, but I can't get the new one to feed back through. It get stuck in the first opening going into the cab. Can you explain a little more how you got your replacement in?
