RWENZING needs to slap me.

I'm trying to finish up my e-fan. It runs after I shut the engine down because the ign on/off wire is attached to the battery. The temp sensor in effect controls the on/off.

So I start testing volts on the fuse box in the bay. I find a fuse that is off when the ignition is off. I tap into it and start the moter. I wait and wait for the fan to come on. It doesn't (yet the guage stays fine). I figure I'll drive around the block. I get in and the fan comes on, so I get out. It turns out it's not running so I get back in and I think I here it kick on again. I get in and out 3-4 times before I realize that every time I hit the brake pedal it turns on. I let off the brake pedal and it turns off. I shut the engine off and the same thing. I hit the brake it turns on, I let off and it turns off. Hilarious.

The fuse was a trailer tow fuse.

If anyone can tell me where I can tap into I would be appreciated. I'd like to keep the splice in the engine bay.

I could only find one fuse in the Battery Junction Box that is hot in RUN & START only. It is #41, 15A and it powers a bunch of engine/transmission stuff. The wire color is Light Blue with Orange stripe.

There are a few more in the SJB in the right kick panel:

Hot in RUN:
20, 26, 27

Hot in RUN & START:
7, 8, 9, 10

ah the joys of installing an efan. lol hope those seggestions work for ya!

btw i turned the POT on my efan controller all the way up and monitored the outgoing water with my heins adatpter and guage, and in 65* weather it would not get any hotter than 210* and my stock water temp guage never moved from the stock position.

this was after the truck had already been drivin 30 miles and sit for over 15 min in the garage before it reached 210*

Thanks Bob. I had found that fuse also but it looked important so I didn't want to use it. I guess it could be good, though. If I end up blowing the fuse a code will get thrown so I'm not driving without a fan without warning. I just tapped into it and it works like a champ.

Zach, the fan install went easy, I just didn't get around to the ignition on. I got tired of everyone thinking my engine was still running when I shut it off and got out of my truck. I'm going to the track Friday night and didn't want the line guys to be looking at my truck funny. I want to flat turn it off when I go to the starting line.

I wired my acc wire from the efan to one of the fuses inside the cab, not sure of the number, but it's the one for the radio I believe. It just turns on the relay for both accessories so it shouldn't be bad. It's been working for 6 months or so with no problem.

I still want a manual on/off switch and will tap inside the cab for that.

I am going to wire in a manual on/off switch also, for doing puddle runs or going through water or you never know what you'll need it for.
Does anyone have any recommendations of a place to tap in the accessory wire to? I have mine tapped into the fuse box in the cab in the radio slot, it's like a 15A fuse. I know it only draws for the relay but the fuse blew once in the wire I have ran to the e-fan from the fuse box and i'm not sure why, and it's been running fine ever since, which was a little while ago.
