Horn not working after steering column replacement.

I've done a search and come up with nothing. I replaced the steering column in my wife's 2000 Mazda B2500 recently - straight to tilt - and since then, the horn has not worked.

The column came from a 2000 2WD Ranger that was not wrecked so the airbag did not go off. One thing I noticed was when replacing a relay (not sure to what), the relay and connector from the Mazda was blue and the Ranger relay was yellow but the wires were the same, colors and all. Is this the horn relay? If so, is this the problem? The fuse is good, all the grounds were put back right and everything else works.

If it's the relay, where can I get one besides the junkyard? Does anyone have one laying around?

Thanks!

You could have a damaged clockspring that carries the electrical conductors to the steering wheel. Is there also an airbag light by chance?

Some Rangers have a separate horn relay but those with remote keyless entry have the relay inside the Central Security Module.

Okay, this truck does not have RKE, however the truck the column came from did.

The airbag light does not come on except during bulb check.

OK, I just looked at a 2000 wiring diagram and that year uses an underhood horn relay whether it has RKE or not. So, it shouldn't matter if the donor and your truck have different power equipment options.

The good news is that there aren't very many things to check:

Fuse #10 (15A) in the underhood box
Relay #7 in the underhood box (swap with another relay to test)
C219 6-position electrical connector at the base of the steering column
The horn - not the most reliable part on a Ranger

If all of that easy stuff above is OK, you will need to check the parts that came with the column assembly. That means checking the horn switches and clockspring assembly for continuity. Do not use a circuit tester on any airbag wires.
