I have a 75 WX ST cb. I can transmit and here the Weather channels. But when I am on cb mode I can not here anything. It is receiveing b/c I can see the bar graph go up but nothing comes through the speaker. I also tried the remote speaker jack and its' results are the same. But like I said, in weather mode all sound is heard just fine. Is there a mute or something that I do not know about??? Thanks

ok, but mine DOES transmitt. I just can not hear any sound. Except on the weather channel. It is loud and clear.

The Cobra 75 WX ST's are not known for their durability... A few Jeep friends have tried using that radio due to its compact size, but sooner or later either the dust, heat or being knocked around damages one of the components in the mic; since most of the components are in the mic.
You might get lucky by taking the radio to a local CB shop, but my suggestion would be to sell it on eBay as a Tech Special and buy a better radio.
Depending upon what your needs are in a CB radio; there are a lot of good radios out there. The Cobra 25 & 29 and Uniden 66 & 78 are good AM radios of moderate size that can be modified for good performance.

Cobras and Uniden generally good radio's? Those ones you pointed out are a little to flashy for me... LOL I found the cobra 19dx iv on sale for 50 bucks... Might be my new radio if this one is dead. Thanks

For another $30 you can purchase a used 25, 29, 66, or 78 that has superior RX/TX to that 19DX.
My preferences for Off Road use are either a AM/SSB Cobra 148 GTL or Uniden Grant XL / LT, Yaesu FT 2200 2 meter or ICOM 706 MK2G which covers all the bands !!

that icom 706 is the **** iv alwas wanted to get a remote mount ham radio... but i dont have the patiants(sp?) to go test...

 

Yeah I have an ICOM duel band that will go in there eventually. But not everyone is a ham... I am just not a chrome kinda guy LOL.
