Power mirrors not working

They stopped working along time ago after I went to the car wash. So far I've check the fuse and the switch for power. When I engage the switch I get power. I cannot hear the mirror motors working. Any ideas of what else to check?

So your saying you get power at the harness that plugs into the mirror?

I've never heard of a mirror motor going bad, specifically both of them.

I tested the harness that plugs into the switch on the driver side door. When I would engage the switch it would read 12v at red and black wires. Idk how to take the mirror glass off to test the motor without breaking it.

Some years are easier than others. Fortunately for you, 2003 is easy:

Just rock the mirror to the full "UP" and "IN" position to expose a gap under the bottom.

Then insert a flat blade screwdriver in the rectangular opening under the plastic mirror base from the bottom. GENTLY twist the screwdriver to pop the glass carrier off. Takes about 15 seconds once you know how:

Here's what the inside of the housing looks like with the mirror popped off. Notice the two slots at 3 o'clock and 6 o'clock where the anti-vibration springs ride.

Here is the back view of a heated Mountaineer mirror but the original Ranger mirrors look similar. You want to pry where shown, NOT at the other rectangular opening that you can see near the lower edge of the mirror:

When reassembling, be sure to line up the anti-vibration spring(s) in their slots (Driver side has two springs as shown, passenger side has only one). Then just use even pressure to snap the mirror back onto the adjustment platform in the housing.

I was gonna say take the door panel off and test the part that plugs into the mirror.

But then Bob showed up and his idea seems better.

I don't know where the problem lies. Just answering his question about how to remove the glass.

The fact that BOTH mirrors are inop would imply that the problem is more likely to be with something that is common to both: power, ground or switch.

Correct me if i'm wrong, But don't both mirrors get power from the same harness that runs from the door switch? I wonder if there is a short or something in that harness.

There is also a common conductor that runs from the switch to both mirrors.

Thanks for the replies. I'll take the door panel off this weekend and check the connections. I'm sure it's a wiring issue for both to stop working at the same time.
