Misfiring on a remanufactured engine
Hi everyone -
First time poster here, long long time lurker. I'm in a bit of a pickle here.
My 02 Ranger 3.0 FFV lost compression on a cylinder and eventually blew the head gasket around 170k miles. I opted to get a remanufactured engine from Car Part Planet and did find a decent deal. My mechanic installed but informed me there was a misfire on cylinder five (not throwing a code nor CEL), though it might cure itself after the engine has broken in. He said he'd checked for vacuum leaks and replaced the fuel injector but it was likely a valve and the engine was faulty. Later I noticed that my real main seal was leaking, he also said it was the fault of Car Part Planet as it came installed on the engine.
I smoke tested my air intake and found a couple of leaks at the pcv hose and valve. I fixed or replaced each. Additionally I replaced my ignition coil, wires, and plugs with a fresh set of motorcraft SP495s (the old ones looked normal when I pulled them). This cured a lot of my rough idle, but not all of it.
The only codes I'm receiving are:
B2276 Less Than Two Transmitters Programmed
B1318 Battery voltage LOW
B1359 Ignition run / accessory circuit failure
Additionally the Mode 6 data failures I'm getting are:
2A 00
2B 00
56 00
I'm really not sure if my mechanic is incompetent or not. Along with missing the vacuum leaks, they broke my oil dipstick on install and forgot a clamp on a coolant line which came loose. I'd really like to avoid pulling this new engine and sending it back for a warranty inspection if I can.
Can anyone help me out with what my next starting point should be here?
Thanks in advance
Travis
