HELP! How do i find top dead center for number 1piston

HELP! How do i find top dead center for number 1piston

ok so im replacing my transmisson and i marked the flywheel so i could turn it to take the tourqe converter off and now i cant find the mark i made. so how can i find top dead center for piston #1? the truck is a 1983 ford ranger with a 2.8l v6.

The transmission is not "timed" to the engine.So finding TDC is not necessary.
After bolting the bell housing to the engine just turn the torque converter to line up the holes to the flex plate and bolt it on.

so ever thought when i turned the fly wheel and it turned the motor i dont have to retime it?
