Superchips

Alright guys, I just picked up a Superchips SCT Max Mirco Tuner from a member here for a great price.

I need to know what I need to do to get it going to so I can use it on my truck.

-Can I use the tunes on my truck as it sits or do I have to have it calibrated for my truck?
-Can I send it into Doug at Bamachips and have him do a tune for me?

Is there anything else I need to know?

I don't think Doug will tune it, as he does Xcals. The tuner you got is probably the one I got, for 04s only. That means no unless you can send it into superchips for a reflash or something to work with your 02.

Are you sure it doesnt look something like this...

Edit: Also if you look at superchips site, they don't have anything for 03-down rangers. It starts at 04-up

Ive never seen that one before, I tried to find some info on that one but didn't really have much luck. The one I got just says for Ford gas trucks, and only for the year of 04. From what I saw, the one you got might have been one they made that can have the tunes customized on it via superchips. I would say the best bet is to call or email superchips and ask them about it. Just tell them you have the 9100 tuner, and your trucks specs and find out what they can do for you.

Can I hook the tuner to my truck with out it being registered to my truck computer? I was wanting to run a check engine light and change my tire size to reset my speedo.

You should be able to use the diagnositc part of it to find out about the check engine light, but the tire size is changed as your uploading a new tune, so no. When you plug it in, two options should come up. 1 being diagnostics, and the other is for the tuning. Right now, you should only use option 1 until you can get new tunes for your truck on it. That is how my superchips tuner works anyways.

I got an email back from Superchips and they said it was an SCT. So I emailed them (SCT) and am waiting to here back from them. I also emailed Doug at Bamachips and am still waiting to here back from him as well.

I used it as a diagnostic tool on my Ranger and my bro's 98 F-150 and it worked great.
