Parking Brake light is ON!!!! Miracle?!?
Okay. Since I have owned my Ranger.......with 30000 on the clock...the parking brake light never worked. I checked the switch contact, and pedal to make sure they were making connection when it was pressed......they were. I also checked to make sure all fuses were good, and alignment was okay.......
Okay. Fast-forward to 62000 miles and low and behold!!!!!!
I noticed this when I got into the truck.....
I can't beleive it.....
Any clue as to why it works so VERY intermittently?
I didn't press the pedal down any farther than normal......
This baffles me, and when others drive my truck, or need to move it, (my brother) they forget to release the brake.......because the light doesn's show its on.
Any clues guys?

There is a switch that gets put to ground when you depress your parking brake. You can see it at the end of the pedal on the firewall. This is a common failure part. To check this, you can just take a wire and run it to a good grounding point (any chassis metal) and then touch the other end to the switch. If your parking brake light lights up, then you know its the switch. Your truck will either have to be on or in the run for this to work. Also the light should light up very breifly every time you start your truck.

Lol.......sadly it only works VERY intemittently(sp)
I am going to try the grounding of the switch method.......I am sure its not the bulb, because this is the 3rd instrument cluster thats been in the truck.........all with different bulbs, so it must be the switch is not grounding.
Thanks guys. Good to know that someone else has the problem too.......
Just so ya know, it does work when starting it, for 2 sec...then its off, like normal.....never remains on.........except for VERY random times.
