Tantalum Capacitors Are Polarized

This is what happens when a Tantalum capacitor is placed the wrong way, and the polarity is reversed:

arnt they all. HaHa a "socket 7" more like 13-15yrs

YUP, it's a PC motherboard from about 1995.....It flamed up in system test, due to a tantalum capacitor in backwards.......

Had the same thing happen put a socket 7 processor in fired it up and it started to smoke took the processor out and two pins were bent together and went in the same hole those things smell awful when they burn.
