Is it my water pump or t-srar

Alright my trucks idiot gauge fluctuates it will ride normal and then go to cold its a slow fluctuation and it doesnt matter weather im driving fast or driving in town the engine wines a little bit more that usial partly due to the belt havimg a frayed cord and the gas pedal joops a little bit, so what do you gus think

Can you get heat from your vents?

No water across the t-stat = no reading.

I second the coolant level check.

I checked it when I first noticed the issue and it was fine ill check again thou

Well I will be sure to check it when I get home would a water pump and or th t-stat from a 89 2.3 be compatible with my 3.0 dumn question yes but I have a lightly used water pump and t-stat at my house

Air in the cooling system will do the same thing.

Well after it it sat a week it was better only acted up the first day I drove it after my vacation now onto the rough idle thanks how does air get in it
