Lockers Or A Winch??
Hey guys...I know that everyone has been teling me to get lockers... Or L.S. but to get LS you have to switch out the axle and stuff and thats just too much of a hastle lol.. So, im thinking lockers.. but they are so freaking expensive and i have no idea what to get and where...
So im figuring if i get a good 8000lbs or 9500lbs winch, i will be able to get myself out if i do get stuck... what do you guys think?
--not to mention it would look cool
Oh and anyone got any ideas on how i could mount it to the cattle gaurd? I know im going to have to fab. a housing, which is no prob.. just dont know where to put it....
Ideas would be great!!!
thanks again guys

i know you cant get the arb for the front because i wanted one for my truck and posted a thread. and i would say get a winch, a cradle, and a front hitch and your good. when u get stuck put the cradle in + pin and your good to go.

another advantage to haveing a winch and cradle is you can wire it with quick disconnects and have it either front or rear. and a locker wont do anything if u get hung up on the frame or axle.
plus a winch could pull a buddy out easier from a farther distance with out getting yourself stuck.

a locker locks both of your wheels together so its impossible to get a one wheel peel. right now your truck is 2wd in tricky situations. for example, when offroading you will have only one traction wheel in the front and one in the rear. i would get a limited slip for the rear, which limits your wheel slipping, but is also very good for on-road because lockers are not very road friendly unless you need to know how to use them. lockers arent too expensive, but selective lockers are, such as the air locker you were looking at, but personally i would go with an e-locker. Your front axle is a d35, the website was correct. you can get full time locker for the front, but you will have to get used to the steering when engaged in 4 wheel drive.
if i were you i would get a limited slip for the rear (make sure you get clutchless so it doesnt wear out, meaning a gear driven limited slip) and for the front i would get a full time locker. the decision is yours, but i would work on not getting stuck before you work on things to get you unstuck, ie a winch
hope this helps

ok... so the Limited Slip in the rear... Do i have to replace the whole axle? and the front locker.. aussie? Is that ARB? I know im asking alot of questions, sorry...
working on not getting stuck instead of working on how to get out if i do... wow.. why cnat i think of stuff like that lol..
the arb air locker only ingages when i flip the switch.. So, it wouldnt do anything to the truck drivability on the road..

a front hitch is a like a trailer hitch u would find on the back of the truck but is mounted on the front. a cradle is a bracket that a winch can be mounted to and that is designed to to be put into a a receiver hitch. thus making it removable and capable of being used from the front or rear.

no you do not have to replace the whole axle for a limited slip.
yes you are right, an arb air locker would not affect your driving on the road, but you mentioned how you dont want to spend $800 on a selectable locker, so go with a full time locker like the aussie. aussie is not arb, aussie is a brand of locker. ideally you would want selectable front and rear, or selectable rear and full time front. but a limited slip in the rear and full time in the front shouldnt run you too much

yeah... i dont know.. im going to see how much funds i have saved up when i get home in may/june after i get the gears, etc... if i have the funds ill just go ahead and get the arbs for the front and rear.. i dont want to skimp out on my truck.. only the best for my baby lol.. its just whether or not i have the money at the time...
which model of the ARB Air locker do i need for the front/rear.. it was showing me a bunch of numbers that i had no idea what they ment....
Edit:
If i go with the quick lock lockers, how well do they work... and whats the diff. in performance from them and the air lockers.. (besides the selectability))
