Running lights stuck on

I have a 2002 Ford Ranger The Edge with a 4.0 engine. After I tried to hook up a trailer with faulty wiring, the running lights blew out. I was able to find two fuses that had blown and replaced them. Now everytime I turn my headlights on and then off again, the running lights will not shut off. Does anyone have any suggestions?

Pull the 40-pin connector under the truck below the driver's seat and check for water inside.

I really don't know but to me sounds like a sticking relay. I doubt it but because i think all the relays are solid state now a days.

Sometimes they heat up and melt a little bit. Then thiongs warp and contacts get stuck on or off. replace it with another one nearby it and swap. mark the one you think is faulty. then test your lights. if they work then you know its the relay.
dont forget about the swap though. you dont want a heater fan going all night.

There are no relays for the headlights or the truck running lights. However, there is one for the trailer tow connector. That's why I suggest checking for water in the 40-pin which carries the wiring for both the truck running lights and the trailer tow connector.

Unfortunately, this is incorrect. If you don't know the correct info, wouldn't it better to post nothing instead of confusing things?

I was able to find the relay for the tailer tow and replaced it, but I still continue to experience the problem. I will check the other fuses and relays to see if anything else is bad. I havent checked the 40-pin connector yet for it has been artic weather here in Michigan. I appreciate your help guys and I will keep you posted as to what I find.

If you have a blown fuse use a voltage tester and check each side of the fuse to ground. If you want you can take it out and check where the blades of the fuse go in.

You should have 12 Vots on one side and 0 volts on the other side. You may have to have the key in the RUN possition but not running. Also do this with the lights off.

If you have 12v at both points where the fuse goes in you might have a melted wire.
