Recalled Firestone's on my ride
Hey y'all,
I have a "pair" of 235/75/15 Firestone tires that are recalled, and on the back of my ranger. One is the radial ATX and the other is the Wilderness at (With the DOT code "VD").
They have alot of tread left, but I don't really feel safe with them on my truck when I rack up 3000 miles in a month. what i am asking is if anyone would know if Firestone will honor the recall and replace their screw-up or will i have to replace them out of my own pocket?

The issue with the recall was people were running them too low on pressure then driving on the freeway. The tire tread would separate from the carcass overheating. They safety margin was compromised in that design and did not allow for enough abuse from dumb people.
I have true snow tires on my truck, they are soft and hum loudly. They still are a 60k tire if you rotate them as needed. I have not and it shows. I do have 30k on them and can get another year or two out of them. Assuming I rotate them soon. Otherwise I can just buy 2 more for under 150.

I call BS that firestone gave you free tires after you drove with them until the tread was gone. the "recall was only for wilderness AT tires from 1998-2001 rangers and explorers.your truck is a 1991. Also, the recall ended 5 years ago. Firestone isn't going to just say "heres a kid with tires made last century, they are bald, WAIT! are firestones! hey, lets give him a free set" NO.

My mom's boyfriend picked them up at a "tire warehouse" on craigslist, before I bought the truck back from him.
